Boren School
Boren School was a two-phased project to re-open a 120,000 square foot building that had been sitting dormant for almost two years. It was built as a middle school, used as a interim high school, and now it will be used as an elementary school. Work included adding a new Early Learning Center complete with outdoor play space, reconfigured classrooms, asbestos abatement, voluntary seismic upgrades, finish repairs and painting both interior and exterior.
We coordinated the work in Phase I so the Owner could do some of the work themselves to save some money while keeping staff employed. The new remodeled school was to be for Seattle Public Schools’ STEM program as well as creating two separate elementary schools within the same building.
Phase II work included voluntary seismic upgrades, ceiling repairs and finishes to departments that were completed while the school was in full session.
